Bow West Concrete Batching Plant\'s vehicular screening area was used as the VIP entrance into the Olympic Park during the London 2012 games, allowing access for heads of state, government and OOC officials. This entrance brought the visitors through a working concrete factory that was temporarily closed during the games period.

The resulting lit effect softly graduates from yellow through to magenta, with a resulting striking appearance very much in keeping with the London 2012 brand.”

The brief included the specific instruction to illuminate the plant in purple light in line with the London 2012 branding. Speirs Major took this idea and evolved it, formulating a design concept that would reveal the plant's form through a combination of washes, accents and shadows whilst working within a constrained budget. The use of dichroic glass filters also allowed the designers to play with the colour shifts that occur when dichroic filters are used in conjunction with wide beam floodlights.
