King's Cross Pedestrian Tunnel,
London, UK

Providing a soft, seamless light effect, as well as the ability to produce both beautiful pastel shades and intense, saturated colour; all of which can be gently animated. The design was developed in close collaboration with The Light Lab, who also manufactured and installed the feature.

Following our long-standing involvement in the development of the King’s Cross Central area we were invited to consider how a new Allies & Morrison-designed 90m curved concourse connecting King’s Cross St Pancras Underground station with One Pancras Square might be enhanced through lighting.

Our idea centred on creating a memorable and immersive experience, to create impact and mark it out as one of the main gateways to the site.”

Pipette

We visualised an illuminated graphic artwork, running the full length of the tunnel, activating the dramatic triangular cladding and drawing pedestrians from the adjacent Tube tunnels.

HALFLIFE

A planned rolling programme of art, as well as the possibility for events to be hosted in the space, will ensure that regular visitors to King’s Cross have an ever-changing experience.

From March 2015 until the end of May 2015 we ran our own immersive light art piece called HALFLIFE in the tunnel. The piece was designed to constantly evolve, creating an ever-changing experience for the users.
