Speirs Major

I studied architecture at Newcastle University, graduating with honours. My interest in light was sparked during my studies when I realised how light is integral to all elements of design: it is key to successful architectural design and is inseparable to the spaces we inhabit. 

I joined Speirs Major in 2018 to to expand my architectural skills and delve into the world of lighting design. I sought the opportunity to work in a specialized sector of architecture, where I could grow my knowledge and skills by being exposed to a diverse range of projects. 

Since joining I have worked on a wide range of projects that span various sectors and geographies. From private high-end hotel developments to the conversion of historic buildings into modern office spaces, and from small-scale external spaces to large public realm developments across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, the diversity of projects keeps me excited and motivated to continuously grow as a lighting designer.
